By the Associated Press. LONDON, October 28.—A chorus of protest both from Great Britain and abroad against a governmental proposal that wreaths should no longer be placed upon the tombs of unknown soldiers during ceremontal visits between repre- sentatives of different countries has brought forth an official explanation of the government’s action. The proposal, the foreign office states, was not infended to interfere in any ! way with individual discretion in the! matter. “Its object was to obviate any risk of such ceremonies becoming & mere! formality of international artesy rather than one of spontaneity,” says the foreign office. “Still less was it intended to suggest that there should be any curtailment of general cere- monies on Armistice day in this country or of laying of wreaths by individuals at any time on the cenotaph or the grave of the unknown warrior.” TRIAL POSTPONEMENT CAUSED BY “EPIDEMIC” Attorney Develops Ailment When Time Comes for Case Put Off on Account of Defendant's Iliness.
