LONDON.—Henrietta Leslie, the nove elist, whose new book. “Mars. Fischer's ‘War,” presents the world catastrophe from the point of view of an lish- woman living in London and led to & German, lives in a famous old house in Chelsea, which was once the home of a Hfiguenot. Next door to the house was the chapel whlc{: is no.; Mrs, Les~ lie'ssdrawing room. ‘The house had been empty for some time when Mrs. Leslie took it because every one who had lived in it swore i¢ was inhabited by ghosts. “And, frankly, I believe it is,” says Mrs. Leslie, “My work room, ul always seems peopled, and once or twice the room has seemed so crowded that I have had to leave it. But they are kind ghosts, and I welcome them.” The drawing room has Gothic windows and aissance columns, and a fig tree has grown up one column and spreads its branches over the glass- covered roof. One of the greatest treasures in the house is what is known as the Livadia panel of tiles which covers the walls of the blue room, which adjoins the dine ing room. The Czar had a yacht of this name, and commissioned Willlam de Morgan to make these tiles for one of the rooms in his yacht. They were sent to Russia, but the Czar returned them, as they did not fit, and De Morgan be- queathed them to his secretary. b e s S o COWBOY’S HEIRESS WIFE VISITS PARENTS ALONE George Gillespi Proprietor of Miniature Golf Course, Plans Fish- ing Trip During Her Absence.
