With a good-sized first-day crowd in attendance, favorable weather condi- tions and interesting exhibits and plenty of them in virtually all departments, the big four-day exhibition got off to what was regarded as an auspicious start and the officials are understood to be confident that if Jupiter Pluvius does not see fit to open his floxd-gates within the next day or so and thus end the disastrous drought, the fair is sure to be a success from every sta Although the long, dr fected both the quant the exhibits in the horticultural section, including the flower show, which was in charge of John Larcombe of Washingion rove, the displays there are surpris- ly good.
