NEW YORK, August 9.—A radio in- stallation, requiring 190 miles of wire and costing approximately $200,000, is bet placed in New York's newesi hotel, the Waldorf-Astoria, now under ‘eonstruction. Believed to be the world's largest set- up of its kind, the system will make available to each of 2,000 private rooms and to 15 public rooms, six individual radio programs. In lgxmunem details of the installa- tion today, Western Electric engineers said the same equipment also will be used to distribute public events in the hotel itself through an interconnecting public address system. In addition to the centralized in- stallation, facilities will be provided in 140 suites to be Jocated in the two towers of the building for privately owned receivers. Programs may be selected by a switch which cuts the loudspeaker into one of six pairs of wires leading from the main receivers.
