PARENTS OF ABSENT - GIRL QUESTIONED Chicago Police Find Similar- ity in Notes—Fear Child et * Dead. By the Associated Press. /OHICAGO, May 21.—Failure of po- lice to find any trace of MAry Agnes Moroney or her reported kidnapers, a “Mrs. Julia Otis,” resulted last night in the questioning of the child’s parents, Michael and Kathryn Moroney. After an hour at police headquarters, Moroneys were permitted to return home. Disappearance of the 2-year-old girl ‘was reported last Thursday. The moth. er sald a woman, claiming to be worker, asked to take the child and buy TIIE EVENING # dress for her. The next day, the mother said, she received a letter telling her that Mrs. Otis was taking the child to California for two months. Later another letter from a supposed aunt was received, Mrs. Moroney said, telling that Mrs. Otis had lost her own child and was “love hungry.” Police said there were several unusual circumstances conpected with the story told by the parents. They also believed both the letter from Mrs. Otis and that supposed to have been sent by her aunt were in the same handwriting. Au- thorities expressed the fear the child might have been killed, accidentally or otherwise. Willlam Conroad, a friend of the Moroney's, also was questioned. Reds Riot in Cologne.
