On each table stood a pyra- mid cake topped by a Cuban flag. The dean of the diplomatic corps, Senor Tellez, and Senora de Tellez were early arrivals, as were almost all of the higher officials. Many guests lingered from the beginning to the end of the reception hours, and at all times the advantages of the well planned enter- tainment suite were apparent, the din- ing room and room where re- freshments were served being the only points.
