CHICAGO, April 18 (#)—A stay of execution until May 9 was granted Wednesday to August Vogel, who was sentenced to die Friday morning for the “whim slaying” of Lyle Perrenaud. Vogel's attorney pleaded to three judges before Judge Walter P. Steffen finally granted the stay. A hearing to determine whether the condemned man is sane is to be held April 28.
