PARKER PLEDGED STATE 6. 0.P.AD North Carolina Republicans Deplore Efforts to Defeat Nomination. By the Assoclated Press. CHARLOTTE, N. C., April 18.—Sup- port of the North Carolina Republican party was pledged in its State conven- | tion yesterday to Judge John J. Parker | of Charlotte, nominee, as a justice of | the Supreme Court. | A resolution, Ooffered by Stuart| Cramer of Charlotte, which deplored efforts to defeat his confirmation “by men unfamiliar with his character and | public service” was adopted unani- mously. The resolution in part follows “We sincerely deplore the efforts be- ing made to defeat Judge Parker's con- firmation by men unfamiliar with his character and public service on grounds which, to us who know him, are wholly unjust. Innate devotion to the Con- stitution, his absorbing love of country and his whole life as citizen, lawyer and as jurist has been directed to the single ond of preserving and handing down to future generations those sacred in- stitutions created for us and for our posterity by the sacrifices of our an- cestors.” Miss Julia Dawn recently caught a CITY NEWS IN BRIEF.
