Heroes' of an aerial attack on the mountain stronghold of Sandino, the Nicaraguan bandit. leader, were reward- ed yesterday in six decorations and one Jetter of commendation given to Marine Corps officers and an eniisied man for services performed while on aviation duty in_the Central American republic. The Distinguished Flying Cross was awarded to Maj. Louis M. Bourne, Lieut. Frank H. Lamson-Scribent Lieut D. Weir and Master Tech- nical Albert §. Munsh. Lieuts. Vernon M. Guyman and Clar- ence J. Chappell, jr, will receive the Navy Cross, while a special letter of commendation has been written to Capt. Harold D. Campbell Maj. Bourne, who now is on duty at Quantico, Va. was cited for making “an unguarded flight across the Gulf of Mexico in 13- hours and 45 minutes mi, Fla, to Managua, Nica- nd also. for “extraordinary , daring and-leadership in the nu- merous contacts he made with 'the forces. Lampson-Scribener is a native of Washington, and now is on duty at the Naval Air Station at Pensacola, Fla., as an instructor, as is Lieut. Weir. Lieut. Guyman was wounded in action in France during the World War and holds the Croix Guerre. DR. JOSEPH PATTON DIES Ex-Head of Chicago Medical So- ciety Expires in Office. CHICAGO, April 18 (#)—Dr. Joseph M. Patton, 78, former president of the Chicago Medical Society, died suddenly in his office Wednesday, supposedly of heart disease. Dr. Patton had been a professor of clinical medicine at University of Illi- nois College of Medicine and professor of internal medigine at the Chicago Polyclinic.
