B—10 225 BOYS ENROLL FOR SWIN COURSE Arrangements Completed at Y. M. C. A. for Free Les- sons Next Week. Arrangements for the intensive course of swimming lessons to be given free next week by the boys' department of the Y. M. C. A, under auspices of The Star, for boys between the ages of 10 and 18 who now cannot swim, were being completed today, as applications were arriving at the office at 1732 G street in increasing volume, James C. Ingram, boys' director, reported this morning. A total of 225 boys had enrolled for the swimming instruction to be given by 8 corps of experts when the morning mail had been opened and tabulated and, judging from the experience of last year, the majority of the applica- tions will come today and tomorrow as late comers rush their applications to | the boys' headquarters before registra- | tion closes Monday morning. | All that remains to be done now is to complete the registration of the boys | who qualify physically in the daily | classes to be all held next week in the | 1 of the boys' department at the | ntral Y. M. C. A. Building | Swimming instructors who have won Red Cross life saving and examiner commissions have been engaged for the {instruction and assigned to take charge of various classes which will run from 9 am. to 8 pm. The boys entering the classes will be put through a sys- | tematic course of elementary instruc- tion designed to quickly teach them the rudiments of the favorite out-of-door sport and test will be given on Saturday of next week to determine how many have mastered the art sufficiently to swim 50 feet.
