FUTURE CITY PARK PLANS OUTLINED Report Discusses Capital De- velopment Contemplated in Capper-Cramton Bill. A pretentious report, giving the loca- | $ions of various parks in the city, pres- ent and prospective, with the cost of their development, together with a bud- get for the improvement of the parks contemplated in the Capper-Cramton bill, now pending in the Senate District committee, is now in the hands of each member of the National Capital Park | and Planning Commission for study. This report, which represents the first stage in a series of studies bers of the commission’s staff, was pre- pared by C, L Wirth, landscape archi- tect. For the present, it will not be made public, as Lieut. Col. U. S. Grant, 3d, the commission’s vice chairman and executive officer, explained today that this report is a “trial shot.” much like a gunner endeavoring to get the correct artillery range. Reveals Close Study of Cost. The report, it is understood, goes into a comprehensive study of the c of wood clearing of the various pro- spective parks in the city, such as Foundry Branch, near Foxhall Village, acquired Patterson tract, near Florida avenue, of almost 50 acres, purchased at & cost of $395. 557. It contemplates the construction of roads and bridle paths in these parks and the making of walks, where desir- | able. The question of restoration of some of the downtewn parks, bringing them up to date and improving the walks is gone into in the report. The National Capital Park and Plan- ning Commission is expected to take up & collective study of this report at its April meeting. In the meantime each of the members will give personal at- tention to the report, over the figures for construction and studying the program from its planning view- point. Suggestions Included in Report. The report is represented as contain- ing suggestions for playground develop- ment and open-air spaces, scattered in various sections of the city. One of the commission members who is par- , ticularly concerned with this report is Prederick Law Olmsted of Brookline, Mass., and Palos Verdes States, Redondo Beach, Calif., who is prominent as a landscape architect. JAILED IN “SHAKE-DOWN” OF ALLEGED SPEAKEASY Man, Claiming to Be Federal Agent, Organizes Raid in Chi- cago—Lands in Cell. By the Associated Press. CHICAGO, March 26.—The authori- ties said that he fooled the Chicago prohibition staff, but when Adolf E. Kubitz, jr. tried to “shake down” the operator of an, speakeasy in suburban Cicero, he started himself on the way to, jail. s Kubitz breezed into prohibition head- quarters a few days 8go and said he was a special agent from Washington, sent out to raid the liguor violators in the suburb made famous by Alphonse Cl%ne. A squad was put at his dis- posal. “Where are your credentials?” de- manded a soft drink parlor proprietor. “I haven't any.* Kubitz admitted. So today, Federal Judge James H. Wilkerson closed the incident: Six months in jafl’ for impersonating a Federal officer.. Wife Is Ordered - To Buy Man Teeth And Pay Alimony By the Associated Press. IT, Mich.; Wolf B. Lakrits is t0 have a new $100 set of teeth, wife ying the bill, and, whats more, '8 going to have $3 a week ali- mony. All this shower of good fortune came upon Mr. Lakritz yesterday when he appeared in court seek- ing a divorce, charging his wife, Lena, with cruelty. Mrs, Lakritz, he said, took over all his property as fast as he acquired it, and ‘when he beeame ill she refused to give him any money. Judge Maurice MeMahon, in granting the divorce, reversed the usual, order of things and gave Mr. Lakritz $3 a week alimony, 1 ordering Mrs. Lakrits to buy him a new set of teeth, the cost not to exceed $100. A Pederal appropriation to lete the task of restoring the historic frigate Constitution was virtually assured yes- terday when the Senate agreed to a $300,000 for House resolution carrying this purpose. Chairman Jones of the Senate appro- priations committee reported the reso- lution favorably. He explained this appropriation was to augment the fund of $600,000 contributed by school chil- dren and others to make possible the remodeling of this old vessel, which played an important part in early American naval history.
