RIOTING STUDENTS WRECK JAIL DOORS Theater Qwner’s Refusal to Celebrate Basket Ball Victory Blamed. By the Associated Press. { ALBION, Mich, February 14.—Some | 300 Albion College students went to their | rooms early this morning after several hours of rigtaus celebration, in the course of which they broke the doors | off the city jail and forced police w} accept a peace which was considerably less than a victory. At least half the students were reg- istered as Police Court defendants, | their names having been taken by po- | lice, who had failed in efforts to incar- | cerate them in the jail and in the| back room of a theater. Dr. John L. Seaton, president of the college, who made an unsuccessful ef- | fort to induce the students to leave the streets, told newspaper men that the | “poor sportsmanship” of George Bohn, theater owner, in refusing to admit the students to 'his {heater, should be | blamed for the disturbances. ‘The students had stormed the the- ater in celebrating a basket ball victory | over Alma College. Some of them said | that Bohn had promised three free shows on occasions of victory during the school term, but backed down when | told that one of the performances was | wanted last night.
