67H TAXI HOLD-UP | INWEEK REPORTED Two Colored Men Are Held for Investigation at Pre- cinct Station. The practice of holding up taxicab drivers in the eighth and tenth pre- | cincts continued Jast night when two | colored bandits, whose operations have ! been marked by the use of a rifle, | staged their eighth robbery within the | week. This time, however, a revolver | was used. i Two colored men are being held at | the eighth precinct for investigation in connection with the robberies. They were arrested early this morning by Headquarters Detectives Howard Smith and Paul Jones. Following the hold-up last night re- serves from two precincts trailed taxi- cabs and patroled for hours the sec- tion the robbers are known to frequent. The latest hold-up victim is Allen Robinson of 315 D street southwest, | He told police he was hired by two colored men about midnight on U street between Thirteenth and Four- teenth street. They told him to drive to Eleventh and Irving streets. When that point was reached, one of them drew a revolver, while the other took $7.10 from his pockets. Policz think the same men figured in all the robbers. Although there was | no rifle in evidence last night, the description of the pair tallied closely with that given by other victims. Police suppose that the rifle was discarded when the robbers could afford to pur- chase a revolver. | CALIFORNIA SOCIETY { INVITATIONS MAILED !
