Supporting the stand taken by the | Pederation .of Citizens' Associations at its meeting Saturday, the Sixteenth Street Hignlands Citizens' Association went on record last night as vigorously opposing the Jone.\ resolution, recently introduced in the Senate, which would liberalize the qualifications of candi-| dates for posts on the Board of Com- missioners of the District. The civic body, in condemning the Senate resolution, declared that there are in the District men amply qualified d_competent -to fill posts as heads of the local government. The citizens also recommended that the three- residence requirement be increases at Jeast 10 years, and that candidates for Commissioners should not hold voting rights in their home States. The assoclation last night indorsed a proposed plan of the Welfare and | ‘chre-tlon Association to transform the vacant lot-on the northwest corner of Sixteenth street and Colorado ave- nue into a miniature golf course. The sponsor of the resolution supporting this plan pointed out that the placing (of a golf course on the site would forestall the location of any undesirable recreation center there and block plans for any other objectionable enterprise on the land. It was known that plans were being considered to make a play ground of the site. The Sixteenth Street Highlands As- sociation some time ago vigorously pro- tested a plan to erect a fire engine house on zhe lot in question. ‘The meeting of the association, which was held in the Sixth Presbyterian Church, Sixteenth and Kennedy streets, was presided over by Dr. Lewis J. Battle, president. RADIO COMMESSION MAY MOVE INTO PRESS CLUB Negotiations are in progress between the Federal Radio Commission and rep- resentatives of the Natlonal Press Building for a lease of 8 number of of- fice rooms in the Press Building for the use of the commission. The expanding work of the commis- sion and overcrowding of its present cramped quarters in the Interior De- partment Building make it necessary, officials of the radio control body said, find adequate quarters. Recent legislation has added a number of employes to the commission personnel. At present the rooms occupied by the commission in the Interior Building are scattared over three floors and officials claim this decentralization hampers the progress. No further expansion is pos- sible in the Interior Building the com- mission has been informed. nor is other | office space in another Federal bullding available. RAILMEN WILL STRIKE.
