For more than a month a committee, under the leadership of Fugene E. ‘Thompson, has been working to make the affair outstanding in 15 years of Templarism in the District, and ticket distributions indicate that their efforts have met with success. The majority of the black-uniformed knights of the order, which numbers more than 3,000 members in Washington, are expected to be present. Replaces Field Day. ‘The combined drill and ball this year replaces the annual fleld day, which formerly was held out of doors. Most of the events of that function are sched- uled for tonight in addition to the ball. ‘The feature of the meeting will be the drill contest, in which 24-man teams representing the six commanderies of the Washington jurisdiction will com- pete for prizes. The drill will be ac- cording to the Templar manual and will include foot and sword movements, A special sword competition will be held with one representative from each com- mandery as contestant. The most pisturesque scene will come at the end of the competitions, when the knights align themselves in massed formation and pass in review. J. Fred Huber, assistant inspector general, will command this maneuver, Band Concert Preceding. ‘The meeting is to get under way at 7 o'clock. Following a band concert, the teams will drill and be inspected and the sword contest will be held. Then the commanderies will form and Rev. James Shera Montgomery, chaplain of the House of Representatives, will ro- nounce an invocation. A salute to the colors will be followed by an address of ‘welcome by Charles F. Roberts, grand commander, presentation of prizes and the review. The rest of the evening will be given over to dancing.
