NEW YORK, December 7.—The up- turn on the Curb Market went forward with vigor during today's abbreviated session, despite the handicap of con- siderable week end profit taking. Lead- ing shares generally closed 1 to 5 points higher, with a few of the more erratic issues making wider gains. The new General Electric stock, re- sulting from the 4-for-1 splitup, was an exception to the upward trend, selling off.about a point on realizing. = Alumi- num Co., however, nearly duplicated yesterday's gain with an upturn of 11 points, and National Biscuit new was in good demand. Activity again centered in the utility ghares. American Gas & Electric and #:merican & Foreign Power warrants sold up about 5 points each, and Elec- tric Bond & Share rose ¢ points to & new high level for the recovery, al- though it slipped off more than a point from the top before the close. United Light & Power gained more than 2 points, and American Supérpower was #gain in demand with a revival of ru- mors of an exchange offer from Electric Bonad & Share. Middle West and Asso- ciated Gas A were somewhat sluggish. Oils were in good demand, reflecting reports of ‘disclosure of greater willing- ness on the part of producers generally to restrict crude output, as disclosed at the annual meeting of the American Pe- REPORT CALLS FARMERS IN STRONGER POSITION Prod of dairy products, fame u&“mmwu‘e' in a relatively trong jon and marketing tion, giving stability to the general - ness situation, the Buréau of = tural Economics reports in its Décember 1 bulletin on farm situtaion. t yéar h Ot? output as wholelsnot:g'eom yeéar's, but only slightly below thé 10-yéar average, the bureau said. —_— 5,000 EXECUTIVES GIVE VIEWS ON BUSINESS Slump of 2 Per Cent Held Likely.
