HYATTSVILLE, Md., November 26. ~-Members of the Prince Georges County delegation in the Maryland Legislature will be invited to the cele- bration and_banquet incident to the opening of Rhole Island avenue from the District line at Mount Rainier to Hyattsville on December 7, it was de- cided at the November meeting of the Chamber of Commerce of Hyattsville, which is sponsoring the ceremonies, held last night in_the Municipal Building here. Arthur P. Owens, president, was in_the chair, Lemuel L. Gray, chairman of the general committee in charge of the pro- gram, announced fine Progress was be- ing made in arranging for the fete. He said it had been reported to him that Mount Rainier would be represented in the parade by 50 floats and decorated automobiles, Hyattsville by 25 floats and many_decorated cars. the Wood- ridge, D. C., section by 100 floats. and Riverdale, Brentwood and North Brent- wood would be well represented. Legion Post to Parade. He said that Snyder-Farmer Post, No. 3, American Legion, of Hyattsville would be in the parade with a drum corps and that the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the District of Columbia, the National Training School for Boys and the Colored Elks would have bands in the parade, and the Boys' Independent Band of Washington also was expected to take part. Odd Fellows of the fifth Maryland zone, comprising the lodges at Hyattsville, Mount Rainier, Capitol Heights, Forestville and Bowie, will make up.a unit, led by the Wash- ington Odd Fellows’ Band. H. Wilson Spicknall of Oriole Lodge, No. 47, Odd Fellows, of Hyattsville is in charge of the Odd Fellows' participation. Chair- man Gray was satisfied that no trouble would be experienced in raising the $1,500 sought among the various towns to finance the ceremonies. It also was decided that any funds not used by the general celebration com- mittee would be turned over to the chamber to be applied toward payment of the $:00, and that the advertisement would refer to this area as the Mary- land City Area. A. H. Seidenspinnét, decorations committee chairman, said that all the poles for decorations along Rhode Island avenue will have been in- stalled in the next few days. Upon motion of S. H. Harvey, chair- man of the industrial relations commit- tee, his committee was authorized to proceed with the organization of a merchants’ bureau within the chamber, the matter to be presented for further approval at the next meeting.
