RIVERS-HARBORS BILL IS PLANNED $125,000000 Omnibus, Measure Proposed by Rep- resentative Dempsey. By the Associated Press. | An omnlous rivers and harbors im- | provement bill, calling for an outlay of | approximately $125,000,000, and affect- | ing every region of the country, will be introduced early in December by Chair- | man Dempsey of the House rivers and | barbors committee. The measure will include all the projects for river and harbor improve- ment approved by the Army Engineers | since 1927. when the last rivers and | harbors bill was passed. Hoover’s Program. Before the measure is introduced, Dempsey said yesterday, he will obtain | from President Hoover his program for | the extension of inland waterway de- | velopment, which calls for improved ! channels on the Mississippi River and | its_tributaries. It would require from 5 to 15 yelfi\ to complete the projects under the pro- posed legislation, necessitating annual | expenditures of about $8,000,000. Hearings Scheduled. The committee will begin hearings the second week in December. Projects for the improvement of the intra-: coasta] canal, the channels of the Up-1 per Mississippi and the Missouri River between Kansas City and Sioux City, i Towa. are to be considered.
