SAN FRANCISCO, November 6.— Charging that he swindled scores of girls from Central and South America out of thousands of dollars through a fake mofon pleture school, police today held Prederick M. McLe More, 26, of Hollywood. . McLe More was booked at the city prison on a charge of operating an employment bureau withcut a license, but detectives said more serious charges would be filed as soon as they have completed their investigations. McLe More, they said, placed adver- tisements in Spanish newspapers here and in Latin America, setting forth his | asserted plans to produce “super fea- tures” for Latin exportation. Three branches of the government have blocked women’s progress toward conquest of male jobs. The prefecture of the Seine, where three of four em- ployes are women, has barred women from future service examinations. The Senate recently did likewise. The post. telephone and telegraph service has set up a new barrier to prevent women getting “equal pay for equal work” with the men. Admittedly, women have had better grades than men in the clvil service tests. It is said by some of the women that the prefecture examiners this year gave the women much stiffer examina- tions than they did the men, hoping to flunk them out of competition. PRINCE OF WALES PLANS T0 GO BACK TO AFRICA Tour Held Indication That King George Is in Much Better Physical Condition. By the Associated Press. LONDON, November 6.—The morn- | ing papers say that the Prince of Wales is planning to return to Africa to com- plete the tour which was so suddenly interrupted last year by the serious ill- ness of King George. He would not return| to England until April. | These reports were taken to indicate that his physicians believe King George well able to stand another Winter.
