Y., there s shown an exciting scene when the crowd tries to break through the police lines to congratulate the aviators who had just completed a 13,300-mile flight from Moscow. So great was the enthu- siasm of the throngs of eager people that the police had to battle savagely to_keep them from crushing the fiyers. Those interested in aviation will be thrilled with the display of the new types of “safe” planes which were dis~ played at Mitchel Field, New York, in the Guggenheim Aircraft competition. American and_foreign machines_were tried out in the tests for a $150,000 prize. Another odd sight is the jailing of an innocent monk by the police at Fred- ericksburg, .Va. The poor monkey had to go to jail just because there was a dispute over his ownership, and will be held in the local bastile until a deci- sion is reached. He is seen to protest vigcrously at being placed behind the bars, but the protests prove useless. The monk goes by the name of “Freckles” and is a trained chimpanzee.
