A BENNETT DIES AT RESIDENCE HERE Banker Expires at Age of 71 Years. Willlam A. Bennett, vice president and general manager of agencies of the Equitable Life Insurance Co. of this city and vice president of the Bank of Commerce and Savings, died at his apartment in the Cavalier, 3500 Four- teenth street, this morning after a short illness. He was 71 years old. Mr. Bennett has been connected with the life insurance business for almost 45 years and came with the Equitable Life Insurance Co. in 1887, which was practically the beginning of the com- . He became man of agencies in 1890 and also managed the Washing- ton district office. He continued in that capacity until some years ago, when he was made vice president. Was War Worker. He has also been connected with the Bank of Commerce and Savings from the time of its organization and has been a director and a member of the executive committee since that time. During the World War Mr. Bennett was chairman of a committee and a speaker for the disposition of Liberty bonds and was prominent in Cross work.
