GANGSTER S JAILED ONRETURNTOU.S. Jim Genna Is Warned to Leave Chicago, Then Held by Stege’s Order. By the Associated Press, CHICAGO, October 11.—Jim Genna's happy homecoming from Italy was in- terrupted rudely yesterday by his, first experience in a Chicago police cell. Once chief of a nourmxlnl clan of alcohol cookers, Genna fled to his home- land four years ago after the slaying of three of his brothers in gang battles. But Italy, too, was inhospitable. He spent two of his years there in prison awaiting trial on a stock fraud charge of which, he emphasized, he was eventually acquitted, but police in Chicago had never molested So he decided to come back to the “olive oil and cheese” business here. - Genna sat forlornly in his cell and listened to a recital of the list of his friends killed since he departed. Informed of Last of Déad. John Stege, deputy police commis- sioner, reminded him of the death of his brothers—Angelo, Mike and Tony—and then drew out one by one the photo- fnpha of the liquor racketeers that fol- lowed them. “Tony Lombardo,” Stege pointed a finger. “Shot to death. “Smoots Aratuma,” he pointed again. ‘“Torpedo, John Scalise, Albert Anselmi, ‘Tony Spano, the Cavallero, Henry Spin- gola—shot to death. “Jim, you'd better get out of town or the newspapers will be carrying pictures of your funeral. He showed the llnrsber clippings of the elaborate funeral of his brother Mike, who, dying, had gathered up his last ounce of energy to kick the face of his stretcher bearer. “Jim,” sald Stege, “you're sitting in the same seat in which five others sat when they were warned to get out of town. They have since been killed.” Unnerved by Recital, The Sicillan, who at time pretended he understood no_English, leaped from his chair and walked nervously to the window, beating a tattoo on the radiator, “This is the guy,” the commissioner RRERNNS SAAASAAASIRNARRNIAAAN SASNNN SONSSANN SAAAAARRSRRRRRRANSENAN X This Hand-wrought Coffee Set made of 14-kt.
