The strike sperad to Brooklyn, where market truckers quit, and also to Harlem. Officials of the Truckmen’s Union in Newark, N. Leaders of the 2,000 truck drivers on strike for an eight-hour day and extra pay for overtime and representatives of the Market Truckmen’s Association pro- fessed to see prospects of a settlement today. Warden F. E. Crawford attended a prison board meeting with Gov. W. H. Adams in Denver. With two convicts, Charles Davis and Leo W. McGenty, in solitary confinement, the names of two others, Thomas Cole- man and Joe Chere, were mentioned in semi-official circles as possible suspects in the instigation of the riot, which cost 12 lives. No official statement on the connection these men might have had with the riots was forthcoming, although it was generally believed there would be others besides Davis and Mc- Genty in solitary confinement within the next 24 hours. 30 Believed Involved. During the investigation the possi- bility developed that perhaps 20 or 30 convicts might have been involved in the riot, although no official statement to this effect was made. The investigators, however, said they were convinced that at least seven guns used by the muti- neers still were hidden in the prison. In some quarters the fear of a further outbreak was expressed. Pending the completion of the official investigation a coroner's inquest into the deaths in the riot was postponed until October 10. Today the State Board of Charities and Corrections will meet here and an intensive investigation into the riot and its underlying causes will be undertaken. Gov. W. H. Adams originally was sched- uled to sit with the board at the meet- ing tomorrow, but he advised by tele- ghone today that he might not come ere. Gov. Adams throughout has. insisted that the riot investigations be pushed to the limit. He has publicly commended the stand taken by Warden Crawford in quelling the prison riot.
