SAN ANTONIO, Tex., September 26. —Two men and two women were in | jail charged with murder and a 19- year-old boy was held as a suspect to- day in connection with the fatal shoot- of Charles Stevens. Federal pro- hibition agent, who, with two other Federal officers, was ambushed on Pleasanton road near here early yes- terday. One of the men, Jo» Hoebrecht, was believed by authorities to be the leader of a bootleg ring in San Antonio. The murder charges against him and Mr. and Mrs, Pedro Guajardo and Alice Smith were fil:d in Justice Court by Sherift Alfonso Newton, Jr. Sheriff Newton, who announced he also held a warrant charging murder for Linn Stephens, an all:ged member of Hoebrecht's gang,, declined to re- veal the identity of the youth or the Smith woman's connection with the case, Three Agents Trapped. Stevens and his fellow officers, Pat they had raided a still, when they were ambushed. Stevens. shot and killed Tom Chandler, 43, in a raid on his home in the same county last August. Operators of the still who escaped were believed by authorities to have been responsible for the attack. Mrs. Guajerdo, in a written state- ment, Sheriff Newton said, told how she pretend to be picking up cabbage, ob- tained for their use.
