AN S ARESTED | " ON RUM CHARCES Raid on Apartment Results im Seizure of 37 Pints of Liquor. Tenth precinct police seized 37 pints of alleged whisky and arrested James Victor Beyer, occupant of a suite on the fifth floor of an apartment building, today. It is said that a policeman in civilian clothes asked the elevator boy if he Xnew where liquor could be procured. According to police, the youth took him to the sixth floor and left him| there while he returned to the fifth floor. He soon appeared with the al-; leged liquor and after questioning re- | lated its source. Securing a warrant, Prohibition Agent W. 8, Smoot, Lieut. J. M. Walsh and Policeman A. M. Tolson raided the apartment and declared they dis- covered eight men and two women gathered around a table, partaking of refreshments. Beyer was chlrlefi ‘with sale, but a charge of possession was substituted by Assistant United States Attorney David A. Hart, when the man appeared in Police Court to plead not guilty and demand a jury trial.
