PRICES AR STEADY ON D. C. EXCHANGE Traction Sells Ex-Dividend at 93 1-4—Gas Stock Demand Falls Off. BY EDWARD C. STONE. In the final trading for the week on the Washington Stock Exchange today in a_quiet market. ¥ declaration of the regular quarterl: dividend of $1.75 r share, Capital ction sold ex- dividend on the exchange today at :,3‘1 for one small M e r g e nthaler Linotype ngain sold ex-dividend at 105, Federal - American National Bank stock moved at 330, Federal - American Co. preferred changed hands at 100% and Potomac Electric Power 513 per cent preferred Tegistered 105%. Washington Gas falled to appear on the board following the announcement that New York interests headed by D. A. Pearson had secured stock to take control of the company. The market closed with 121 bid and 125 asked. While the change in control “has aroused deep interest among exchange members, the utilities interests supposed John C. Yost. to be represented by Mr. Pearson are | still unknown here. Incidentally, & canvass today of Washington bankers also hfl?d to shed light on the new owners. In all transactions to date, so far as can be learned, only Mr. Pear- son or somé New York brokerage house have figured. On’ the local exchange today bonds were in fP\-eny goggl demand, several $1,000 and larger- transactions being re- esorded. Quotations were steady. Mortgage Firm Elects Officers. Yost Long at Bank’s Helm. TFellow bankers paid John C. Yost an- ether tribute this week when he was re- elected president of the East Washing- S-vlnfn Bank at the organization meeting of the trustees. Mr. Yost has been connected with the bank for al- most 25 years, or ever since it was founded. "He was one of the original trustees, and has been head of the in- fimuon for considerably more than a years in the National Capital Bank, of which H. H. McKee is president.
