NEW YORK, May 31.—Two specta- tors were killed and a driver and two others were injured at a Memorial day automobile race at the Metropolitan Fair Grounds, Middie Village, Queens. One of the dead was identified as| Damascus McKenna, 48, of Flushing, | N. Y. The other was unidentified. Brooklyn, the driver, who suffered a fracture of the skull: Jacob Anselem, 27, of Elmhurst, fractured leg, and an | unidentified boy about 14 years old, fractured skull. The car was traveling about 80 miles an hour at one of the turns of the dirt track when it left the course and hurtled up a small embankment into a group of spectators before it turned over Katz told police he lost control of the machine when he saw a boy run onto | the track and swerved his car to avoid hitting him. Police believe the injured boy was the one Katz saw. WHEAT WILL TAKE OATH ON MONDAY, Chief Justice McCoy Wlll Officiate | at Special Session of Court in General Term. Alfred A. Wheat, by the Senate as a ju trict Supreme Court, will be inducted into office Monday at 3:30 o'clock at a special session of the court in general term. Chief Justice Walter I. McCoy will preside and will administer the oath of office to the new justice. Justice ‘Wheat will then receive the members of the bar and others wishing to extend felicitations. Justice Wheat has been employed at the Department of Justice for the past eight years as an assistant solicitor gen- eral and since the promotion of Attor- ney General Mitchell has been acting solicitor general. He studied law at old Columbian University and was a class- mate of Justice Peyton Gordon. While attending law school Mr. Wheat was teaching at Central High School and aiding in the formation of the Business High School. Special Dispatch to The Star. ANNANDALE, Va., May 31.—PFuneral services were held yesterday afternoon in the Southern Methodist Church for the late Rev. George H. Williams, 90- year-old Confederate veteran and re- tired Government employe. Services were conducted by the Rev. J. C. Dug- ger of Lincolnia, pastor of the East Fairfax Circuit, assisted by the Rev. E. V. Regester of Alexandria, presiding elder of the Alexandria district; Rev. Dr. Blakemore of Washington, pastor of this circuit 25 years ago. Mr. Willlams was a chaplain in the 8th Virginia Infantry and saw service throughout the Civil "Var, participating in many of the most severe engage- ments. He was a charter member of Marr Camp and has served as chaplain for many years. He was a licensed minister of the Southern Methodist Church and fre- quently preached as supply minister in this part of Virginia. He held no regu- lar pastorate, however. For almost 50 years he was an employe of the United States Government, rising from watch- man to assistant superintendant of the United States Capitol. When the re- tirement law went into effect, he re- signed with a pension and has since devoted his time to church and com- munity work. He is survived by his second wife and by three sons, Thomas A, Marvin W. and Spurgeon, annd by one daughter, Mrs. Vernon Lynch, all of Annandale.
