28 THE EVENING STAR, WASHINGTON, D. €. FRIDAY, MAY 3I. 1929. SEEKING DENTITY OFVOMAN' BODY Police Believe Murder Victim | Had Been Dead for Two Weeks. By the Assoclated Press. | HEBRON, Ind., May 31.—The body of & young woman about 20 years old, who had been slain, was found lying in 3| swamp about 4 miles south of here yes- | terday. Her skull had been crushed and the body then laid in several inches of brackish water and partly covered with reeds. Coroner C. H. Miller of Porter County said the woman had been dead about two weeks. Donald McLain, 10, stumbled upon the gruesome discovery while on a wild- | flower expedition. Mrs. Margaret Biggs of Hammond, Ind., who was camping near here, in- | speeted the woman's clothing and de- clared it somewhat resembled that worn by her sister, Miss Alma Seifrig, who disappeared two weeks ago from Calu-" met City, Ind., where she was employes as a maid. Because of the condition &f | the body Mrs. Biggs was not allow’d to see it, but shc stated its measuresfients corresponded in a general way t~ those of Miss Seifrig. A pin fastened to the victii’s coat bore the word “Chicago.” Porter Coun- ty authorities requested Chicago officials | to check their list of missing young women in an effort to identify the body. | —_— As the result of a recent jump in the ; price of bacon, the Liverpool, England, U, S. Last year during a heated town elec- tion campaign in Bowmanville one of the mayoralty candidates, M. J. By a recent decision of the United | States Supreme Court the seven-story | McGill Building, valued at $300,000, is | the property of the little Canadian town.
