William Spry, commissioner of the United States General Land Office since 1921 and former Governor of Utah, died at his home, 2844 Wisconsin avenue, yesterday. Death came as the result of a stroke of paralysis last Tuesday. He had been in failing health since 1927 He was 65 years old. Commissioner Spry was appointed to the Land Office post by the late Presi- dent Harding. At the time of his ap- pointment, he resided in Salt Lake City, Utah, with his family. They moved to 211: city immediately and resided here ince. Recently Mr. Spry had been appoint- ed a member of the oil conservation committee of the Department of the In- terfor, formed to assist in carrying out President Hoover’s policy on petroleum conservation. Governor Two Terms. Mr. Spry was Governor of Utah for two terms, from 1909 to 1917. Before becoming governor he had served as United States marshal for Utah, as president of the State Board of Land Commissioners and in other public posts. He resigned from the position of marshal to run for governor. He was a candidate for the United States Sen- ate in 1927, but was defeated. Following his retirement as governor, Mr, Spry retired temporarily from pub- lic life until appointed to the Land Office by President Harding. But, “How very sensible!” is bound to be your comment when the floor salesman talks about the dirt-proof, stain-proof surface. Each pattern is protected by the Accolac Process that seals the pores and saves the surface. Beautiful and lustrous when laid, these floors stay beautiful. When the frying-pan sizzles over, when bread falls jam side down —when heedless feet track in mud—a swish of a dampened cloth wipes the floor clean. The satin- smooth finish keeps no record of the tiny tragedy. This Accolac-Processed surface is easy to care for. An of floor scrubbing . . .
