ANNAPOLIS. Md. February 28.— Safeguards for the heaith of operators of paint-spraying machines are provid- ed in a bill introduced in the House of Delegates yesterday by Irvin C. Hamil- ton of Cumberland. The measure pro- vides that no one under 18 shall he employed on such apparatus, nor shall any one work more then eight hours a day operating such machine or more than 50 minutes in any 1 hour, the 10- minute rest period to be spent in fresh air. All operators must undergo a phys- ical examination prior to appointment and every three months thereafter as long as engaged in the operation of such machines. Violations would be punishable by & fine of $1.000, imprisonment for not more than six months, or both. B. F. DUCKETT DIES. Upper Marlboro Hotel Owner Vie- tim of Long Illness. By a Staff Correspondent of The Star. UPPER MARLBORO, Md., February 28.—Bennett F. Duckett, 63, proprietor of Duckett's Hotel here for the last 17 years, died yesterday. He had been in i1l health for several months. Duckett was a native of Prince Georges County, but for years operated a livery stable in Washington. He left the Cap- ital in 1912 to take over the hotel here. Duckett is survived by three sisters and three daughters.
