NEW PASTOR TAKES OVER DUTIES HERE Rev. R. Paul Schearrer Will| Preach Tomorrow at Ta- | koma Park Church. Rev. R. Paul Schearrer, the newly installed pastor of the Takoma Park Presbyterian Church, will occupy the pulpit at both services tomorrow. At 11 o'clock he will preach on ’ThPl Good News,” and in the evening at 8 o'clock on “The Business of the; Church.” | Rev. Mr. Schearrer was instalied lat(y Wednesday evening under the auspices | of the Presbytery of Washington City. | Dr. Joseph R. Sizoo, pastor of the New | York Avenue Church, preached the sermon; Rev. Bernard Braskamp, vice moderator of the Presbytery, presided nnd propounded the constitutional ques- tions to the pastor and to the people, and Dr. Alfred E. Barrows, pastor of the Eastern Presbyterian Church, of- fered the prayer of installation. The | charges were delivered by Dr. W. L.| Darby, secretary of the Federation of Churches, and Rev. J. Rev, Mr. Schearrer is a native of | Reading, Pa., and was graduated from the Reading High School with the class | of 1908. - Four years later he was grad- | uated from Franklin and Marshall Col- lege of Lancester. In the Fall of 1912 he entered the Union Theological Semi- nary of New York, and also was en- rolled as a graduate student of Colum- | bia University. After a year in thuen institutions he interrupted his study to) become a member of the teaching staff of the American University of Beirut, Syria, which position he held for three years. In the Fall of 1916 he resumed his studies in the Union Seminary and in Columbia University, receiving his master of arts degree in 1917 and grad- uating from the seminary with the class of 1918.
