Opened by the invocation of Rev. l Henry Teller Cocke, rector of All Saints Protestant Epitcopfl Church, the pro- gram was marked by the annonucement of honor roll graduatés and winners of special awards. Edward Dawson headed the honor roll.-with an average rating that fell barely below' pprfect for the full four-year course. -Others named as honor graduates by Dr. El- || mer S. Newton, principal, were Betty l Baum, Priscilla Bunker and Benjamls Dulaney. “W” Winners Are Named. Following the honor roll graduates, Dr. Newton announced the winners of honorary “W's,” enameled silver pins bearing the Western High School “W”. These awards went to Elizabeth Smith, writer and poet; Benjamin Dulaney, dramatics and publications; Edwurd Dawson, scholarship; Alexander Stev- ens, stage management; Winton Brown, musical productions; Margaret Becker, accompanist, and Jean Westbrook, or- chestra and solo work. ‘While the zrwdustlnswcllu was the center of attraction at the exrcises, hon- ors were accorded also to a group of undergraduates whose scholastic attain- ments have been high.
