The Duncan Phyfe Chair chair “at right” is a reproduction of one purchased by General LaFayette from Dun- can Phyfe and presented to Judge Rowan of Kentucky. It is known as the Stephan Foster Chair and has a charming history. The high chest of drawers although not accurate is a very close reproduction of one which is on display in the Metropolitan Museum in New York and also of another which is the prop- erty of Mr. Dwight M. Prouty of Boston. The gate-leg table behind the typical Early American Armchair is substantially the same as the original in the Bolles’ collection.
