REAL MONTHLY BUILDING EXCEEDS LAST YEAR Private Operations for No-| vember Show Phenomenal | Gain in District. A phenomenal yolume of private building operations in the District was approved during the past month in com- parison with construction activities here during the past year and a half, ac- cording to the report of Col. John W. Ochmann, building inspector, showing that permits for projects having an estimated total cost of $7,199,890 were issued during November. The November total is far in excess of that for any other month this year, the nearest approach to it being re- corded in July, when the cost of new operations was estimated at $1,413,955. The past month's figure runs the total for 1928 thus far to $14.467.460, which is more than $8,146,000 above the grand total for the entire year of 1927. | Included among new work approved | Jast month were plans for 81 dwellings, | three apartment houses, costing $2,350,- | 000; two churchos, an embassy build- ing, a hospital addition, the auditorium edifice to be erected by the Daughters of the American Revolution, costing $1,200,000, and two office buildings, having a total cost of $2.200.000. !
