Due to the extraordinary repairs and the building of the Lincoin Memorial Tower, the New York Avenue Frc<by-‘ terian Church has been compelled temporatily to close its doors. The church has secured as a place of wor- ship the auditorium Temple, Thirteenth and H streets and | New York avenue. The services will | be held there both morning and eve- | ning at 11 o'clock and at 8 o’'clock. The children's departments of the | Sunday school will meet on the first | floor of the newly acquired parish house, directly to the west of the. church building. A farewell reception was tendered Saturday night to three young couples of the Potomac Conference of Seventh- day Adventists who are responding to calls of the Foreign Mission Board of that denomination to go as missionaries to foreign lands. They are: Rev. and Mrs. R. L. Kimble, who for the past year have been stationed in Richmond, Va., where he has been pastor of the church in that city; Mr. and Mrs. Glen A. Coon; Mr. and Mrs. Frank E. Spiess. Mr. and Mrs. Coon will go to the Carib- bean ‘Conference in the West Indies while the other two couples will go to | India. Two of the couples are newlyweds Mr. and Mrs. Coon having been mar- ried only & few weeks ago, and Mr. and Mrs. Spiess were married Thanksgiving night. The ceremony for Mr. and Mrs. Spiess was performed at Washington Missionary College, where both were students, by Rev. W. F. Martin, presi- dent of the Potomac Conference. Mrs. Spiess was Miss Rachel Ruth Steed, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar R. Steed, of Albermarle, N. C. Miss Edna Stoneburner, of Edinburg, Va., was bridesmaid and Mr. Curtis Quacken- bush, of Paterson, N. J,, the best man. Mr. Spiess was grad\ubed from Wash- ington Missionary College last June.
