REAL ESTATE. THE EVENING STAR, WASHINGTON, D. C. SATURDAY, DECEMBER 8, 1928 x =% FORT RENO SCHOOL Junior High Building to Cost $500,000 Included in Con- gress Estimates. Provision is included in the budget estimates now before Congress, for the fiscal year beginning next July 1, for the construction of a junior high school to be erected in the Fort Reno section. It will be of a type in accordance with the Mcfarland Junior High School and similar also to the E. A. Paul -Junior High Building, now being erected in Brightwood. The cost of the new northwest school structure 1s estimated at $500,000, for which an initial eppropriation of $200,- 000: would be made available under the estimates now pending before Congress, The building in Reno tract, which as yet has not been named, would be of three stories and basement, of brick facades, with the first story of stone and a roof of slate. Its treatment would be of modified Colonial style. A tower would rise from the center of the struc- ture, according to plans in the office of Municipal Architect A. L. Harris. The building would have a frontage of 194 feet and a depth of 140 feet. Designed to accommodate pupils i the growing seciion, the building pla ned will include provision for 24 clas: with additions later to be added which would bring the total to 44. On the basement floor there would be a lunchroom, while on the main floor there would be an auditorium, domestic science and domestic art, manual train- ing quarters and a print shop. On the second floor there would be a music room, classrooms, including those de- signed for mechanical drawing classes, arts and crafts and free-hand drawing work. On the top floor there would be a library, typewriting room and six classrooms. THREE APARTMENTS ON AUCTION BLOCK The Mertinique, Tuxedo and Le- high to Be Sold by Trustees. T _The Martinique, fashionable residen- tial hotel, located at 1211 Sixteenth street, will be placed on the auction block at 3 o'clock, December 17, by order of the trustees, George J. Moss and F. P. Williams, according to legal advertisement announcing the sale. The property is to be sold subject to a trust of $240,000, the purchase price above the ‘rust to be paid in cash. ‘The Martinique is an eight-story build- Ing of brick and stone facade. Announcement is made also of the projected auction sales of two four- story apartment houses. The Tuxedo Apartments, 1439 T street, a building containing 40 apartment suites, is to be auctioned at a sale to be conducted at 4:30 o'clock, December 14, by direc- tion of the trustees, Alphonse M. Baer and’ Oscar R. Scholz. The property has a frontage of 68 feet and a depth of 200 feet. It is to be sold subject to a trust of $70,000, the purchase price nbz‘!e the trust to be paid one-third in cash. The Lehigh Apartmens, at the north- easti corner of Adams Mill road and Lanjer place, is to be sold at auction at 4 o'clock, December 14, by direction of Margaret Wilson and William L. Darby, trustees. It is to be sold subject to 3 trust of $35,000 and the purchase price above the trust is to be paid one- half in cash. Doheny and operating in | many sections of the country, has pur- chased the local plant, business and real estate holdings of the Republic Oil Co of this city and plans, after taking pos- session of the present properties the first of the new year, further expansion, it is announced. The consideration in the transaction, while not disclosed, was understood to be in excess of $750,000. The transaction involved the plant of the Republic Oil Co. at Rosslyn, Va., a filling station at Potomac, Va., and others in the District, including those at Georgia and Alaska avenues, Georgia and Sherman avenues, First and H streets northeast, Tenth street and Maryland avenue southwest, Twenty- fourth street and Benning road north- east, Rhode Island avenue and Twenty- second street northeast, Kalorama road and Champlain street, Wisconsin and ‘Western avenues, in the 4300 block of ‘Wisconsin avenue, and Third street and Virginia avenue southwest.
