Special Programs Will Be Given Late Saturday Nights, Begin- ning November 17. By the Associated Press. | BOSTON, October 5—Radio broad- ! casts to the south polar region for the benefit of Comdr. Richard E. Byrd and | his Antarctic expeditionary force have | been arranged with the Westinghouse radio stations, a dispatch received here from Comdr. Byrd at Chicago said yes- terday. Comdr. Byrd is on his way to San Pedro, Calif,, to board a ship for | New Zealand. i The stations participating in the broadcasts will be WBZA in Boston, WBZ in Springfield, KDKA in_Pitts- burgh and KYW in Chicago. Station KYW will inaugurate the schedule on the night of November 17. Personal messages from relatives and friends of members of the expedition and special musical programs will make up a large part of the Anarctic transmissions. The broadcasts will begin at a late hour every Saturday night, when prac- tically all other stations are silent.
