Special Dispateh to The St NEW YORK, March 7.—Although there were intervals of strength dur- | ing which new highs were recorded, in- cluding one for General Motors above 150, today's stock market turned reac- tionary at the close. Realizing sales in the last quarter of ! an hour were too heavy to be absorbed without concessions and the market | left off with prices for the leaders gen- erally lower, although the losses were not large compared with the extent of the recent rise. After the spectacular display in Gen- eral Motors at the close yesterday, at- tention was concentrated on that stoc at the openirig today. The initial quo- tatfon was 1503, contrasted with the preceding close of 150. This made another new record for the $25 par shares. The first burst of strength was followed by selling, which carried the price down for a fractional loss on t day. The stock was well supportec, however, and probably offerings repre- sented more profit-taking than new FINANCIAL. R ——— INITIAL DIVIDEND.
