PARIS, November 2. ‘bert, former French se: acquitted in connection with the Bolo Pasha treason case during the World ‘War and exonerated of fraud in Amer- jcan war contracts in 1919, died here today. Humbert was one of the most prom- inent figures in the military prepara- tion campaign in France previous to the war. He kept up appeals both in the French Senate and in the news- non, He was sent to the United States Jate in 1914 to purchase war materials for the French army, but was recalled after a few months’ activities. Acquitted at Trial. In 1918 he was tried on a charge of having intelligence with the enemy, |, the charge growing out of his allege r ttions with Bolo Pasha, the notor ous leader of the “Defeatist” move- ment in France, who was sentenced to death and shot at Vincennes, April 17, 1918. i . In 1919 United States Attorney General Becker exonerated Humbert of fraud in the United States in con- nection with contracts entered into five years previously when Humbert had gone there to buy war supplies for France. FREDERICK, Va., November 2.— The corner stone of the new Mary Washington Hospital building will be laid Friday under the auspices of the Fredericksburg Masonic Lodge, No. 4. in which George Washington was made a Mason on the same date in 752. The ceremony will take place at 4 o'clock in the afternoon with the principal addresses being delivered by Louis A. Waters, president of the George Washington Masonic Nation- al Memorial Association, and James Bowman, grand master of Masons in Virginia. Many prominent Masons will be in Fredericksburg for the occasion and to attend the celebration of George Washington’s Masorfic birthday which is an annual event in the local lodge.
