One of these units will be a vocal chorus of 100 male and female voices and the other a complete symphony orchestra of 110 instrumentalists under the aiternate guidance of four conductors, H. Maurice Jacquet, the noted French leader: Charles Trevin, irno Rapee and Frederick Stahlberg. V. Boyle, Tahiti, Society Islands, to the Department of Commer { For many years the trading firms, | with headquarters at Papeete, hav sent_schooners to the various islands in French Oceania for the purpose of trading, merchandise for copra. There as always been a great element of visk in this business hecause, except at one or two places in the islands, no telegraphic communication be ‘ tween the vessels and their owners was possible. In many instances the schooners are away from Papeete as | long as six weeks, durlug which time | they are regularly trading. When the vessels leave Papeete the super cargoes know the latest price for copra .and the exchange rates of banks t that time. After leav Papeete they receive no furthe formation regularly, which, of course, makes their buying and selling opera tions somewhat speculative because the price of copra and exchange rates fluctuate frequently.
