BS the Associated Prass NEW YORK. December 2—Or- ganized labor leaders have declared war against communism. which they regard exemplified in the leadership of a garment workers' strike here. A lockout by the American cloak and suit manufacturers is in effect against 16,000 of 35.000 workers in- volved, and a committee of trade unions has been formed which will direct a fight “to a finish" against the strike leaders. More than 30 labor organizations are represented on the committes and invitations have been extended to all groups. A zeneral conference has heen called for December 21 “to transfer plans for the complete elimination of Communists from the labor movement.” Referring to the fight of interna- tional officials of the International Ladies’ Garment Workers' Union to defeat the alleged Communists who have been leading the cloakmakers' strike, the committee says in Its conference call “Taking advantage of industrial depression, the Communists were successful in gaining control in some organizations.
