Two peaks of the Sierra Nevada mountains in Californfa hitherto un- named, have been given the titles of Mount Irvine and Mount Mallory in honor of two members of the British expedition for the conquest of Mount Everest, who perished ‘near its sum- mit in 1924. The United States Geographic Board, in announcing the names of the two peaks, each of which rises more than 13000 feet above sea level, said they were given “in honor of George Leigh Mallory and A. C.
