VOTE ON CHURCH UNITY. IN SOUTH TABULATED Ballots of 30 Annual Conferences! Show 2,968 For and 2,171 Against Merger. By the Associated Press. NASHVILLE, Tenr., November 5.— The combined vote ¢f 30 annual con- ferences of the Methodist Episcopal Church South on unification with the Methodist Episcopal Church is 2,968 favoring and 2,171 against, It is an- nounced at Methodist headquarters. Three conferences voted yesterday, as follows: East Oklahoma, 140 for, 18 against; North Mississippi, 43 for, 166 against; Louisiana, 117 for, 74 against. For passage of the plan of unifica- tion in the Southern church three- fourths majority of the total vote is required to favor the plan. The com- bined vote now is 5137. Since the vote favoring unification is only 2,968, this is 886 votes short of a three. fourths majority. Thirteen conferences are still to vote.
