Rear Admiral Willlam S. Benson will be given a testimonial dinner at the Mayflower Hotel Saturday on the occasion of his seventieth birthday and the completion of 50 years of service to the Government. Among the speakers will be Secre- tary of Commerce Hoover, former Secretary of War Newton D. Baker and Bishop Hugh C. Boyle of Pitts- burgh. Attorney General Sargent and Secretary of the Navy Wilbur will at- tend, as well as Archbishop Peter Fumasoni-Biondi, the papal delegate. Reservations for 300 guests have been made. Senator Guy D. Goff of West Vir- ginia, one of the sponsors of the din- ner, who has just returned from South America, brought back a greeting to Admiral Benson from Admiral Gomez of the Chilean navy. Deaths from influenza, which totaled 43 in 1923, dropped to 17 in-1924, Deaths in Maryland in 1923 ag- eregated 20,974 from all causes, against 22,111 in 1923. Son of H. M. Keyser Buried.
