Merritt of New York City today. He proposed the creation of a fund for the purpose. Dr. Merritt is presi- dent of the academy. He asserted treatment is the only cure for mouth disease. OFFICERS T0 GUARD BOULEVARD STOPS Traffic Policemen to Be Put at Corners Where Cars Objected to Halting. Traffic policemen will be stationed, as predicted yesterday, at the seven boulevard intersections where the street railway companies objected to stopping their cars before crossing. For several months the street car companies and the traffic office have been in disagreement over the ques- tion of whether street cars should obey the stop signs at boulevards. The decision reached yesterday aft- ernoon to place traffic officers at the seven locations In dispute solves the problem, since trafic on both streets will then move only on the officer’s signal. The points In question are Rhode Island avenue at New Jersey avenue, Florida avenue, Seventh street, Ninth street and Eleventh street; Massa- chusetts avenue at th street and New York avenue at Seventh street.
