From the Country Gentleman Magazine. In some sections there has been a marked increase in the number of na- tive song birds, due probably to the migratory bird law, which protects them. As a result fruit growers are experfencing some trouble in protect- ing soft fruits. Last Summer the writer had one Montmorency cherry tree near his house, and some distance from the main cherry orchard, that simply swarmed with birds as long as the fruit lasted. One or two small branches were broken by the weight of the birds. About the only solution seems to be to grow more fruit than the bird: .
