Halrdressers in Japan are worried over the popularity of bobbing which has recently come upon the land where the women's headdress was something of an art. The Japanese colffures have been so elaborate that few women can manage their hair alone, but in recent months the bob- bing idea has taken hold with such widespread popularity that the hair- dressers address prayers to the Con- gen shrine to persuade Japanese women not to have their hair bobbed. Serve in patty cases with a roll of bacon on the top of each. This is a typlcal Southern dish. Chicken Merango. Sprinkle one chicken, cut up with salt and pepper, dredge it with flour, and saute in salt fat pork. Have ready & sauce made of one-fourth cupful of Lot butter, a sliced carrot, a table- spoonful of chopped onion, & sliced turnip, half a cupful of tomato, salt and pepper, and a little cayenne. Cook these ingredients together, covered, for 5 minutes. Add two cupfuls of bolling water. Put the chicken fn a stewpan, adding the sauce. Brown a fourth of a cupful of flour and stir smoothly into the whole. Should the unbrowned flour, which has been dredged upon the chicken, not serve to thicken this sauce enough, add a little comflour. Browned flour is not a good thickener. Cover all and simmer until the chicken is tender. Then add half a can of mushrooms cut in pleces. Cook all for 6 minutes. Ar- range the chicken in the middle of the serving dish and pour the sauce around it. Barley GitNgr Bread.
