Provision Dealer Succumbs in Hospita! Follow- ing Month of Illness. John C. Auth, 69 years old, brother of Nick Auth of the Auth Provision Co. here, died of pneumonia in Providence Hospital Saturday night. Mr. Auth had been In falling health about a month, having had the influenza, which de- veloped into pneumonia. Funeral services were conducted at his late residence, 1100 Four-and-a-half street southwest, today at 9 o'clock, and the body was taken thence to St. Mary's Catholic Church, where requiem mass was celebrated at 9:30 o'clock. Inter- ment was in St. Mary's Cemetery. Born ih Germany, Mr. Auth came to this country and to Washington in 1876, and had for many years been engaged in the butcher business. He was a member of the Holy Name Society. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Auth; two sisters, Mrs. M. Door and Mrs. L. Hugle, and his brother, Nick Auth, FATHER 0’DONOGHUE DEAD IN NEW YORK atholic Priest, Formerly Located Here, Was 54 Years 0ld. Burial Wednesday. Rev. Martin O'Donoghue, 54 years old, formerly assis pastor at St. Peter's and St. Paul's Catholic Churches, respectively, of this city, 4died in New York Satumiay. Father O'Donoghue had recently been con- nected with the Holy Fathers, a Ca thollo organization in Connecticut. He was on hle way back to Con- nectiout from this city when taken sick in New York. Father O'Donoghue was born in Georgetown, the son of Martin and Margaret O'Donoghue. He was edu- cated in schools in this city and was later graduated from Georgetown University. He also was graduated from 8t. Charles’ and St. Mary's in Baltimore. He was ordained to the priesthood by Cardinal Gibbons in Baltimore in 1896. His first appoint- ment was to the stant pastorate of St. Peter's Catholic Church. He was afterward appointed assistant pastor of St. Paul's Catholic Church. Father O'Donoghue is survived by two brothers, Dr. John A. O'Donoghue and Daniel D. O'Donoghue, an attor- ney, both of this city, and three sis- ters, Miss Mary E. O'Donoghue, Mrs. J. W. Btockholm and Mrs. Martin Delaney of Alexandria, Va. Funeral services will be conducted at St. Matthew's Catholic Church Wednesday morning. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. SR COLLEGE HEAD DIES. MEADVILLE, Pa., November 24.— Dr. Fred W. Hixson, president of Al- legheny College since 1920, died at his home here yesterday from malignant arthritls. He would have reached his 50th birthday anniversary today. Dr. Hixson was elected president of Allegheny College In 1920, to succeed Dr. William H. Crawford, and came to Meadville from the University of Chattanooga, where he had served as president from 1914. President Hixson graduated from Depauw University and was ordained in the Methodist Church in 1899 and for 15 years served as pastor of churches in Terre Haute, South Bend, Crawfordeville and other Indiana cities.
