By the Associated Pres PLYMOUTH, Vt., November 24.—Of- ficial representatives of the Common- wealth of Massachusetts and of the State of Vermont, with officers of the Massachusetts Soclety, Sons of the Revolution gathered Saturday in this village, the birthplace of President Coolidge, to honor the memory of the great-great-grandfather of the Presi- dent. In front of the Iittle village schooi, fn a downpour of rain, a flagpole from the west wing of the Massachusetts State House was dedicated to the memory of Capt. John Coolidge, a sol- dler of the Revolution. The pole was the gift of the Sons of the Revolution of Massachusetts Col. John Coolidge, father of the President, ralsed the American flag above the schoolhouse which stands on the same site as the one the Presi- dent attended as a boy. The exer- ciges were concluded within the little school which boasts an enrollment of only seven students. Distinguished Speakers. Among those who spoke in honor of Capt. Coolidge, who fought at Bunker Hill, were acting Gov. Fred- eric W. Cook of Massachusetts: Wel- ington Wells, president of the Massa- chusetts Soclety, Sons of Revolution; Gov.-elect Franklin Billings of Vermont; former Gov. Willlam W. Stickney of Vermont, and Frank G. Allen, president of the Massachusetts Senate, in addition to representatives of the town of Plymouth. A telegram from the President was read, In which he said: “I wish to take this opportunity of expressing my sincere thanks for the action of the Sons of the Revolution of Massachusetts in presenting to the town of Plymouth the flagpole in honor of by great-great-grandfather, Capt. John Coolidge. There is little, perhaps, that 1 can properly say of the pride which I feel in his honor- able service to his country, but I can express, I am sure, my own sense of appreciation for this action on your part. The fact that this memorial comes from the State house has espe- cially to.ched me, and I am very gzateful to you for it It had been planned originally to dedicate the flagpole on August 3 last, the first anniversary of Caivin Coolldge’'s inauguration, but circum- stances prevented.
