SALVATION ARMY .ASKS CLOTHES FOR CHILDREN The social service or the Salvation Army is_endeavoring to supply the poor children of Washington with clothes suitable for school wear. Dur- ing the past two weeks several hun- dred applications have come into the army headquarters from poor parents appealing for clothes and shoes for their children. . Many of these applications have been filled, but, with the supply jotally exhausted and the requests still pouring in, the army officials are calling upon the people of Washing- ton to assist them in the good cause. Almost anything of this nature will be welcome. There are skilled work- ers at the Industrial Home 4o reno- \ate the worn garments and put them in wearable condition. Many of the parents of these children also are badly in need of proper clothing and shoes and any articles of this char- acter, as well as broken pleces of furniture, old books and magazines will be gratefully received by the army officlals.
